4 New Roses To Add To Your Garden This Year

star roses and plants 2018

[dropcap]R[/dropcap]oses are a classic staple in the gardening world. For good reason, I might add! They are the perfect addition to any landscape, adding color, height and fragrance. There are a variety of types of roses to choose from, making it easy to find something that suits your ideal palette and well thought out plans.

Last season, I was able to preview and grow some radiant new varieties thanks to Star® Roses & Plants. They have been a pioneer in the field of plant development and introduction for more than 100 years.

Star Roses actually contributed heavily to my can-do attitude with growing roses. Some of the first roses I successfully grew were part of the The Knock Out® Family of Roses. Pictured below is The Pink Knock Out® Rose.

The Pink Knock Out® Rose

I was thrilled to try growing some new varieties last season. Each rose I received began as a bare root. I made sure to keep the roots moist while waiting to plant them. It was still too cold at the time to put them in the ground.

24 hours before I was ready to give them a new home, I soaked them in a bucket full of water and Authentic Haven Brand Natural Brew Alfalfa Tea. Here's what the process looked like.

After soaking, I planted my bare roots in large containers outside. Once they started to sprout, I moved them directly into the ground. Here's what they looked like right before transplanting.

I love the Gilded Sun! (I’m a sucker for yellow roses) Too bad none of these will survive here up north, in zone 4!

I suppose it is a bit weird not liking roses, or any flowers actually! But, I do like a black rose and daisies! These photos are amazing! 🙂
