The days are finally getting longer, and spring is only 33 days away! If we can get through the harsh weather in February, we will have made it through the depths of winter unscathed. I'm looking forward to the snow melting and revealing crocuses, tulips and daffodils once again. The second week of this month brings roses and chocolate which makes the sting of the cold temperatures a bit more bearable. Please enjoy these visual delights during these frosty few weeks.

February 22, 2016 at 10:04 amWhat a lovely post. Bread seed poppies……one of my favorites! I live on eastern Long Island, NY (zone 7), and direct sow my seeds late winter; the seeds need the cold spell, light to germinate (scatter the seeds on the surface of the soil) and perform best in full sun. You will need to thin the seedlings out once they are of handling size. I gather that for zone 6B you should sow the seeds in late February thru early March. Visit my post dated July 6, 2015 to see the ones I grew last year. I failed to thin out that particular patch sufficiently, but the performance was enough to provide me with quite a few purple papery blooms and craft-worthy seed pods, too. Good luck!
