Project 366 Weeks 51 – 52

The 366 Photo Challenge 2016

I am happy to share that I have made it through all 366 of my first photo a day challenge! They definitely do call it a challenge for a reason. There were some days where I had zero inspiration and real life definitely got in the way. On the other hand, I started to learn to think outside the box, not taking the daily prompts so literally, and it became something I looked forward to. It really did up my creativity and imagination.  You start to look at the detail of the everyday objects and the scenery around you.

I really enjoyed how it helped me improve my skills in photo editing software like Adobe Lightroom.  I became more comfortable shooting in manual mode and started experimenting with different lenses. All of these skills take time to learn and master. Just like playing piano, it helps when you practice everyday. Participating in The Bethadilly Challenge made me challenge myself and find a style that was all my own. I'm excited to share that I will be jumping on board The Bethadilly 52 this year.  Instead of a photo each day, I will be taking a themed photo each week. I'm thrilled to keep pushing myself and ready to try something new!

Day 336 | 366 {fancy}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

This squirrel enjoying a fancy lunch of fresh pumpkin seeds today. So I watched as the squirrel and his friend proceeded to find a way to roll this small pumpkin down my front steps. It broke open from the fall, then they hit the jackpot. After this, they continued to fight over the insides of the pumpkin for a good 20 minutes! I also watched them try with all their might to do the same thing to a bigger pumpkin on the steps. Silly squirrels 😋

Day 337 | 366 {a self portrait}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

I love planting Amaryllis bulbs every winter! They add some color and cheer during the dreariest months of the year. Stay tuned for a Longfield Gardens winter gift kit giveaway coming soon to the blog!

Day 338 | 366 {a black + white edit}

Happy Wing Wednesday! Phoebe flapping her strong, gossamer wings!

Day 339 | 366 {from behind}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

My favorite feathered caboose! 😂

Day 340 | 366 {wishlist}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

I was given a copy of Gardening With Chickens by the lovely and talented Lisa of Fresh Eggs Daily! This new book should definitely be on every gardener, farmer and book lovers wishlist this holiday season. It is filled with gorgeous photography and smart strategies to keep your plants safe as they grow! Book review on the blog coming soon 🌱🐔

Day 341 | 366 {lights}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

We love to cuddle and enjoy the lights on the Christmas tree! Don't holiday lights make the best bokeh?

Day 342 | 366 {free choice}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

My favorite mystical mama of the farm, sweeter than the butterscotch candy she loves!

Day 343 | 366 {bundled up}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

So as humans, when we go outside we bundle up to stay warm. Ducks can't do this, so they rely on their feathers. Well, these two little mischievous ladies found a better way to stay warm! Since it's wintertime, the water comes out of the hose hot. They run over as soon as they see us bringing over the hose. Then, they wait patiently for the water to get to be just the right temperature. They treat the water bowl like it's their own personal hot springs! Crazy ducks, gotta love them ❤️

Day 344 | 366 {tree}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

My talented mom made this awesome artwork by reusing old or broken costume jewelry! Instead of throwing away earrings or pins when they broke, she saved them to make something new. Each bauble or charm came from something my mom, my grandmother or I used to wear. Every piece holds a special memory. I absolutely love my mothers creativity and ability to transform and revitalize everyday objects!

Day 345 | 366 {’tis the season}

'Tis the season for Christmas cactus blooms!

Day 347 | 366 {sparkle}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

I love these red glittery ornaments that sparkle and reflect the glow of the Christmas tree! 🎄

Day 348 | 366 {bokeh}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Sending a huge thank you to my friends at Plants Map Tracy & Bill for the festive ornament!

Day 349 | 366 {festive}

Getting to munch on some festive peppermint treats! ❄❤️❄

Day 350 | 366 {mittens}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Fresh eggs for the winter solstice! Thanks ladies! Hope you are staying warm today. I'm ready for the days to start getting longer again!

Day 351 | 366 {a winter activity}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Staying warm and toasty. It may have snowed today, but the temperatures are slowly going back up! Thankful for that!!

Day 352 | 366 {tradition}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

It's tradition that we get a special and new ornament for our tree each year. This year, we picked out this pretty little green house! 🌻🍃

Day 353 | 366 {a cup of cheer}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

My favorite kind of cup filled with cheer! Watching The Grinch & some other Christmas classics tonight ❤️💚❤️

Day 354 | 366 {a gift}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Lots of gifts waiting to be unwrapped under the Christmas tree tonight 🎁 So excited! Wishing everyone a very happy holiday!

Day 355 | 366 {white}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Merry Christmas from the farm! 🎄

Day 356 | 366 {winter}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

My favorite winter flower! Well, technically this plant flowers all year. I just appreciate these gorgeous red blooms more during the winter months. If you have trouble growing indoors, this anthurium plant is for you. It can tolerate all levels of indirect light, and all I do is water it using two ice cubes once a week! That's it! Laid back and beautiful ❤ The way all houseplants should be!

Day 357 | 366 {a holiday treat}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Christmas was filled with such delicious desserts. Here is the Yule Log, which is yellow sponge cake filled & covered with chocolate buttercream flavored with espresso + liqueur. It is sprinkled with powdered sugar and covered in berries. The mushrooms are made out of meringue! Such a festive holiday treat! 🍓What's your favorite holiday treat?

Day 358 | 366 {gold}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

A little gingerbread man bracelet for the holiday season!

Day 359 | 366 {off prompt}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Gobbles stopping by to say hello! He is hoping you are all having a wonderful holidays! 🦃

Day 360 | 366 {family}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

You know your feathered flock is really a family when they fight over the same pile of food...when there are six separate piles to choose from! Oh those crazy birds 😜

Day 361 | 366 {a new favorite}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

It's because of my amazing boyfriend that I have adopted an Emperor penguin chick! 🐧 I absolutely love all animals, especially the penguins, so this really made my heart burst ❤ We are taking a trip to meet the penguins this spring, and I'm thrilled!

Day 362 | 366 {the weather outside}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Today it started out clear, then it snowed, then it rained, then it stopped, then it snowed again, then we got thunder snow. That pretty much sums up what it's like to live in New England right there!

Day 363 | 366 {a glimpse}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

A glimpse into the life of a chicken. Frolicking and foraging around the farm finding grubs in the mud all day long! 🐛

Day 364 | 366 {chilly}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

It was another chilly day on the farm. This flock of Canadian geese stopped in for a drink, and all of their loud honks certainly got Finn's attention! It's still pretty icy around here, so there was some slipping and sliding taking place! It's so beautiful to watch them all take flight & travel together! 💙

Day 365 | 366 {warmth}

Project 366 Weeks 51 - 52 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Ella likes to burrow in my blanket scarf for extra warmth. Nothing better than cuddles with my fuzzy little pup!

    This is awesome! What a great way to challenge yourself.
    My goal this coming year is a poem per week. That lack of inspiration is already starting to hit and it’s only week 2 for me. Way to go with making it a whole year!

    I love this! How amazing to have captured an image a day for a full year. A memory a day marked forever more. I may have to take inspiration from this and take on this challenge for myself.

      hahaha that made me giggle! Some of my photos include my thumb still, but luckily no pooping dogs. They just decide to lick my clean lens every now and then. Darn dogs! Most recently, a horse sneezed on my lens. Yes, that’s right, I had to clean off horse boogers. Thank you very much by the way 🙂
