The birds have started chirping again, the spring peepers are back, and the ground has started to thaw. Everything seems to be awaking from hibernation. All signs are pointing to an early spring here in New England. I've dusted off my Hunter rain boots, and am excited to announce that yard clean up is now officially in full swing!
I'm beginning to see some crocus and tulip bulbs emerging. Oh how I missed them! I've also seen a few tiny bugs here and there while I'm hard at work. It's also nice to see the local group of turkeys meandering from yard to yard again. It's quite the large rafter, and the toms put on an elaborate show to impress the hens. There is one female albino turkey, and she is stunning. Hope to see some chicks in the near future. I try not to bother them as they pass by, and my camera never seems to be within reach (Isn't that always the way?)
No sign of the groundhog that lives under my shed. I have a feeling I'll be seeing him as soon as I plant something I don't want him eating. Everything feels so new again when spring rolls around. I'm ready to become immersed in sweet spring and see all the beauty that it brings!
Thank you for taking a look at some of my latest photos. Don’t forget to join me on Instagram and follow my account @thefreckledrose. Are you seeing any flowers emerging in your yard? Planted any seeds lately? Tell me all about it in the comment section below. Wishing you many sunny days ahead, some rain (for the flowers, of course) and a little bit of time to spend enjoying the great outdoors!
