Project 366 Weeks 37 – 39

The 366 Photo Challenge 2016

My days have been spent outdoors working hard on a new water feature, planting bulbs for next spring, and cleaning up the garden bed.  I've been bringing in herbs to dry, and enjoying all the late season blooms.  The weather has been staying warm here in New England, so I've been trying to take advantage of that as much as I can.  I've been sipping on some hot fall inspired drinks all month long while continuing to bake some autumn favorites.  I've put away the flip flops and shorts and pulled out the boots and sweaters.  The foliage has been slowly turning here, but starting to put on a show!  The waterfowl have been enjoying the recent wet weather and rainy days.  I've been beginning to put up holiday decor around the home inside and outside.  Come see what I've been up to lately!

Day 276 | 366 {a basket}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

A basket full of farm fresh eggs. Do you know what causes some eggs to be white and other eggs to be brown? It actually depends on the breed of chicken! Tip: If a chicken has white earlobes, it will most likely lay white eggs. A chicken with red earlobes most commonly lays brown eggs. There are of course exceptions, but it's a fun little fact!

Day 277 | 366 {in my cup}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Salted caramel mocha is my favorite fall drink! It's espresso, mocha sauce, steamed milk, caramel sauce, toffee nut syrup, raw sugar & sea salt topped off with some whipped cream! 🍫☕️❤️

Day 278 | 366 {boots}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." A few small leaves are beginning to fall from the trees here in New England 🍁 Don't you just love boot season?

Day 279 | 366 {the weather}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

White puffy clouds and blue skies above leaves of green. Still waiting for the trees to change color here, but I'm okay with that! 🌳☁️

Day 280 | 366 {my town}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

My Massachusetts town is built on farm land and fowl friendly. Very close to many famous historical sites and only a half hour drive from Boston. Settled in 1652 and famous for its ginger ale, this suburban town has heart and history.

Day 281 | 366 {seasonal}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Seasonal pickings! Do you like to pick your own pumpkins? My favorite tip is to pick one with a strong stem. I tend to be drawn to imperfect pumpkins with spots, bumps or warts. 🎃 I know how much work goes into growing pumpkins, so I totally appreciate each and every one!

Day 282 | 366 {décor}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Digging in rocky New England soil has proven to be quite the chore, but so worth it to install this beautiful backyard water feature. Since I didn't have any room in my pre-existing gardens, I decided to build a new one around this gorgeous stacked slate urn from Aquascape. I dug, installed the basin underground and purchased new soil to start the new garden. I then covered the basin with river rocks and pond stones. Now it's time to add more garden soil, some mulch and a few shrubs and plants! Outdoor décor like fountains really make a big impact in a small space. Can't wait to finish up this backyard project with the finishing touches! ⛲️

Day 283 | 366 {chopped}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Chopping off a big portion of my lemon balm today to infuse some water and dry! Do you add fresh herbs along with fruit to your water? What do you like to add?

Day 284 | 366 {i love this}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

The changing of the seasons. I love watching the trees turn colors. Some fast, some slow. This one in particular I love watching each year. I can see it from my bedroom window every morning. I feel like it changes color overnight, and if you blink you might miss it! Such a stunning season 🍂🍁🍃

Day 285 | 366 {solo}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

One solo honeysuckle blossom hanging on to the vine, blooming all the way into October! Although the hummingbirds have left, I still see some butterflies fluttering about enjoying this bloom!

Day 286 | 366 {my favorite snack}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

My favorite garden snack! Seems like my raspberry bushes have gotten their second wind! They didn't fruit very much late this summer because of the intense drought. No matter how much I hand watered, fruit really suffered with the dry conditions. The skies have finally opened up and I'm enjoying an abundance of fresh berries! Thank you rain! 🌧

Day 287 | 366 {what I do best}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Finding and photographing my favorite little beauties that catch my eye. Here is Catalina Grape-O-Licious torenia also known as the wishbone flower! These flowers are doing better than ever this October!💜

Day 288 | 366 {my afternoon}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Working to finalize my Aquascape water feature garden for fall. Planted some Autumn Joy sedum, Ornamental millet, multi-colored chrysanthemums, Green Velvet boxwood and Coppertina ninebark. I'm also prepping it for spring by planting different naturalizing bulb mixes like tulips, daffodils and hyacinths!

Day 289 | 366 {stairs}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

The warm sun is shining with today's temps reaching 80° 🍂 Feels like summer, looks like fall! I can't complain 🎃

Day 290 | 366 {cool}

Project 366 Weeks 37 - 39 | angiethefreckledrose.com

One of my favorite cool weather crops. My little plants have come so far this season! The cut-and-come-again method has served me well.

My 366 So Far

October Calendar

Have you been taking advantage of the gorgeous views and crisp fall days?  Are you spending time outdoors going for walks and watching all the colors change around you?  Tell me all about it in the comment section below or tweet me pictures @thefreckledrose.  I'd love to see!  It's almost Halloween, so I will be working on creating some fun jack-o'-lanterns and possibly roasting some pumpkin seeds in the oven.  Hope everyone has a great All Hallow's Eve!

    These are beautiful photos. I like how you capture the details of something close-up and the background is blurred. Also, the everyday moments are interesting.
