Project 366 Weeks 25 & 26

The 366 Photo Challenge 2016

The garden is at it's best in July.  Everything is lush and green thanks to the heat.  This time of year is definitely not easy when it comes to weeds.  They are everywhere no matter how much you pluck, pull and tug.  They come back with a vengeance looking to take over every area in your yard.  I've been trying to keep ahead of them, but if I go on a weekend vacation, I feel like I come home to a small field of them again.  I've had some unfortunate incidents with some garden trespassers as of late.  My chicken wire fence protecting my vegetable garden is getting older and weaker.  That, on top of the dry ground caused by the drought we are experiencing here in New England, is making it very easy for the groundhog to dig his way under into his paradise of greens.  Even though I did lose some veggies, my main focus in on protecting the rest now.  As I work on that, I'm enjoying some amazing turnip and elephant garlic harvests.  Come enjoy my latest photographs of my daily happenings.

Day 183 | 366 {change}

The change from April to July in the veggie garden is always mind blowing to me! Beans are one of those crops that always seem to take off quick. It feels like it happens overnight!

Day 184 | 366 {i love this}

Project 366 Weeks 25 & 26 | angiethefreckledrose.com

I planted this container back in May and the flowers had yet to bloom. Now all the flowers have really popped just in time for 4th of July! 🇺🇸 Flowers I used: Proven Winners Superbells Pomegranate Punch calibrachoa, Superbena Royale Cherryburst verbena, MiniFamous Neo White calibrachoa, Easy Wave Velour red petunias and dracaena spikes.

Day 185 | 366 {what i did today}

Made a bouquet with these lovelies! I planted some golden marguerite around my strawberry patch three years ago and they really took off. From one little plant to hundreds now! They are also known as yellow chamomile and can be used to produce golden dyes.

Day 186 | 366 {patriotic}

Summertime fun & patriotic decor. I'm loving this heat wave hitting New England ❤️💙 Lemonade in hand and a nice long nap in the hammock makes the perfect day 🍋

Day 187 | 366 {salty}

Day ‪193 | 366 {monday}

Because on a Monday, stepping outside and seeing this flower makes me feel like I'm a little closer to Puerto Vallarta🌴🐠

Day 194 | 366 {off prompt}

Project 366 Weeks 25 & 26 | angiethefreckledrose.com

‪Turnips harvested today! This is my first year growing them in my veggie garden. I planted the Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds purple top white globe variety under my hoop house back when it was still chilly out. They did well, then took off like crazy in the spring! I have some pesky bugs munching the leaves, but other than that they've been hassle free. Do you pick your turnips when they are on the smaller size or on the bigger size? I'm still learning as I go!

Day 195 | 366 {noon}

Project 366 Weeks 25 & 26 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Admiring the scarlet emperor beans growing up the teepee. The seeds I planted this year are third generation of this plant. Seed saving is totally worth the time and effort. If you love a certain type of veggie, you get to enjoy it year after year! Scarlet Runner is definitely my favorite bean to grow. I absolutely adore the little red flowers they produce on the climbing vines and so do the hummingbirds. I used to grow them on a tall trellis, but I switched to a teepee because of their size and weight. High winds of a rain storm can make such a mess! I had a garden trespasser just a few days ago. The groundhog came in and went right for my bush beans, squash, peanut plants and lettuce. He fortunately couldn't reach these beans so they made it out unscathed. Now it's time to fix my garden fence so I can keep admiring these beauties!

Day 196 | 366 {strength}

Project 366 Weeks 25 & 26 | angiethefreckledrose.com

I find hope, strength and comfort in the garden on those days I really need it the most.

Day 197 | 366 {five}

Project 366 Weeks 25 & 26 | angiethefreckledrose.com

Have are five Blazing Star liatris growing tall & beginning to bloom. The good bugs in my garden go nuts for this stuff. Lots of honeybee sightings and even a few monarch sightings this year 💜⭐️ Definitely a must for any pollinator friendly yard!

    I really want to try growing Elephant garlic in my forever garden, which I get to pant next spring. I am so giddy. Thank you for linking to Life Thru the Lens each week. I have learned a ton from your sight and I really enjoy seeing your garden, and farm each week.
